Mandolin master David
Grisman goes one-on-one with some of the world's greatest talents in acoustic
music for Dawg Duos, an intimate collection of newly recorded duets. Among
the special guests included on this memorable project are banjo innovator
Bela Fleck, bass composer Edgar Meyer, violin masters Mark O'Connor and
Vassar Clements, National guitar ace Bob Brozman, Indian percussionist
Zakir Hussain and many more. Dawg Duos features five new Grisman compositions
written especially for the project, including the hypnotic opening track
"Mando-Bass Boogie Sonata" and the plaintive closer, "Old Souls," which
features the auspicious recording debut of Julian Lage, an amazing eleven-year-old
jazz guitarist.
As the Dawg himself
puts it, "Like twelve different inkblot reflections, these duo encounters
with great practitioners of the acoustic arts inspire unique musical patterns
and symmetries." Dawg Duos is sure to appeal to fans of acoustic music
of all genres.
