Oscar Alemán's solo on Bye Bye Blues

I believe Oscar Alemán, like Charlie Christian, Django and many of the jazz greats, used a lot of downstrokes (as opposed to alternate down/up picking) in his eighth note lines, which gives a particular articulation to the swing feel.

Iíve heard this tune played by bluegrass bands who venture into swing territory, so the solo may be of particular interest to bluegrass guitarists whoíd like to explore the upper portions of the fingerboard and the vocabulary of melodic ideas peculiar to swing and jazz.
